自製泡泡水
以下摘自這本書：科學玩很大
據祝達文經驗，洗潔精、洗衣液和清水的比例，大約是1:5:7。「水分一定要多，因為表面活性劑要有足夠的水分，才可產生作用。」然而，單靠清潔劑溝水，泡泡很容易爆破，存留時間較短，「因為地心吸力的緣故，泡泡上的液體分子總是往下聚集，使泡泡頂部愈來愈薄。另外，水分子本身也會蒸發，泡泡會因為水分子流失、表面張力受到破壞而變薄，最後無法支撐而破裂」。因此，想泡泡在空中飄浮久一些，就要想辦法保護脆弱的泡泡，祝達文說，秘訣在於加入甘油！
「因為水和甘油會產生化學反應，形成氫鍵，氫鍵可使分子間的吸引力變強，幫助泡泡鎖緊表面的水分，增厚水膜，減少水分被蒸發的機率，變相增強泡泡的持久力」。但他補充，甘油的分量不宜多，以今次實驗為例，1杯洗潔精、5杯洗衣液和7杯清水（1杯=100毫升）
），只需加入約20毫升的甘油，「若加入過量甘油，會使泡泡變得太厚和太重，反而容易下墜爆破」。
加砂糖膠水 泡泡更「強壯」？
網上也流傳在泡泡水中添加膠水或白砂糖，便可吹出不容易爆破的泡泡，真的嗎？祝達文笑稱自己未試過，但若從物理學角度推測，配方也合理，「我估計，白砂糖的作用是讓水變得黏稠些，這樣，吹出來的泡泡便『強壯』些；至於加入膠水，相信是想透過這種黏液，增加泡泡水的延展力，那吹出來的泡泡就比較堅固」。他建議小讀者可動手做實驗測試，實踐STEM的科學精神。
